The Bates College volleyball team place a disappointing sixth at the 1998 NESCAC Volleyball championships, dropping a first-round match to No. 5 Tufts, 3-1, to enter the consolation bracket. After defeating No. 8 Wesleyan in the consolation semifinals, the Bobcats dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 6 Trinity in the Consolation finals.
Named to the All Tournament team was setter Kate Hagstrom (Portola, Calif.). Hagstrom also earned her second straight first team All-NESCAC honor, while teammate Amanda Colby (Williamantic, Conn.) was named first team All-Conference as well, after earning second team status last season.
