The Bates women won 13 of the 16 events for the second week in a row, and once again first-year Edward Little H.S. product Vanessa Williamson (Auburn, Maine) had a fine day for the Bobcats. Williamson qualified for the NCAAs in her third different event, this time meeting the 'B' Standard in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:41.59. She also won the 100 butterfly, anothe of her NCAA events. Senior Megan Simmons (Buffalo, N.Y.) swept the 50 and 100 backstroke events in her last home meet, while junior Megan Ferrari (Doylestown, Pa.) captured the breaststroke at the same distances. Rookie diver Kara Seaton (Wayne, Pa.) won both the one- and three-meter diving events for the seventh time this season. First-year Alison Wensley (Rochester, N.H.) won the 1,650 freestyle in the Bobcats' second time competing in the event this season.

Men: Bates 168, Conn. College 119

The men had one of their strongest meets of the season, winning 12 of 16 events against the Camels. A pair of Tarbell Pool records were set, as senior diver Andrew Hastings (Weston, Mass.) took the three-meter board with a score of 304.80, while first-year Sao Ohn Hseng (Rangoon, Burma) tied his own facility mark of 28.70 seconds in the 50-yard breaststroke. In addition to Hastings, who also won one-meter diving, Bates had two other multiple winners. Senior Andrew O'Donnell (Leonia, N.J.) won the 50 and 100 backstroke events, while junior Dave Bear (Winter Park, Fla.) showed his versatility by taking the 1,650 free and the 100 IM.
