Brandeis 9, Bates 1
Bates 10, Brandeis 0

The Bobcat softball team saw its six-game home winning streak snapped in the opener of a doubleheader with Brandeis University. The Judges (13-18) used two home runs from junior cleanup hitter Melissa Jones (Waltham, Mass.) while holding Bates (7-6) to just three hits. Sophomore right fielder Katie Marshall (Contoocook, N.H.) had the team's lone RBI on a squeeze bunt in the third inning.

In the second game, the Bates offense came around, batting around in the second and fourth innings to take a 10-0 decision. Senior centerfielder Brandi Richards (Kingfield, Maine) went 2-3 with a double and three RBI, while senior 3B Tonie Taft's (Liverpool, N.Y.) base-clearing double in the fourth inning put the game out of reach, giving junior pitcher Becki Gasior (Park Ridge, N.J.) her fourth win of the season.
