BOBCATS TAKE SIXTH AT SUNDAY RIVER & BLACK MOUNTAIN

LEWISTON, Maine — Skiing at their home venues of Sunday River and Black Mountain, the Bates College ski teams took sixth place for the second week in a row.

Senior Kyle Hildebrand (Waitsfield, Vt.) led the way for the Bobcat alpine team for the second week in a row. Hildebrand followed up last week's win in the slalom with a second-place finish, completing the two runs in 1:43.19, less than a quarter of a second off the winning time. He also took sixth in the giant slalom. Classmate Dan LeBlanc (Plymouth, N.H.) was Bates' second skier, finishing 20th in the GS and 21st in the slalom. The women's alpine side had Bates' best team finish at the Carnival, placing fourth in the GS. Junior Kim Rogers (Charlestown, Mass.) placed 14th, senior Jo-Ellen Rowley (Milton. Vt.) took 16th and junior Megan Friend (Ellsworth, Maine) finished 23rd to round out the Bobcats' scoring.

On the Nordic side, junior Justin Easter (Jay, Maine) and sophomore Haley Johnson (Lake Placid, N.Y.) each repeated their top 10 performance for the previous week in the individual events. Johnson was eight in the women's 5K freestyle race, while Easter took ninth in the men's 10K freestyle. Easter and Johnson combined with junior Nate Rogers (St. Anselmo, Cal.) and sophomore Abby Harris (Derby Line, Vt.) to place seventh in the co-ed 4x6 relay on the second day of the Carnival. They finished with a time of 1:12.48.
