FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARTELL NAMED NESCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK LEWISTON, Maine Bates College junior goalkeeper Kim Martell of Needham, Mass., has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 1.
Martell has not allowed a goal in 430 minutes, while the Bobcats as a team have kept opponents off the board for 475 minutes. Sophomore Lynne Antinarelli of Bedford, Mass., was in goal for the remaining 45 minutes. Overall, Bates has a 7-1 record, posting shutouts in all seven wins. Martell leads the NESCAC with a 0.27 goals-against average, and Bates has an 0.25 team GAA. Martell is the second straight Bobcat to win NESCAC Player of the Week honors, joining senior forward Kate Dockery of New York, N.Y. Martell is a 1999 graduate of Needham High School. # # #
