FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DOCKERY NAMED NESCAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LEWISTON, Maine - For her role in leading the Bates College women's
soccer
team to two victories in the opening week of the season, junior midfielder
Kate Dockery of New York, N.Y., has been named New England
Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week.
Dockery scored the
Bobcats' first goal of the season against non
conference opponent Babson College on Sept. 12. Her tally in the 77th
minute was the game's only goal, as Bates outshot Babson, 35-6. Four days
later, Dockery assisted on the game-winning goal against Amherst College
in the Bobcats' NESCAC opener on Sept. 16. She found sophomore forward
Melissa Ostuni of Lynnefield, Mass., open in front of the
net with less
than 10 minutes remaining in regulation to give Bates the 1-0 victory. The
assist was the first of her career for Dockery, a defensive midfielder.
Dockery is a 1998 graduate of Nightingale Bamford School. She is
the daughter of William and Dorothy Dockery, New York, N.Y.
