D'ADDARIO BREAKS BATES MEN'S LACROSSE GOAL SCORING RECORD

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College senior attack Mike D'Addario of Locust Valley, N.Y., scored his 159th and 160th career goals for the men's lacrosse team on April 19 against in-state rival Bowdoin College, making him the College's all-time leading goal scorer.

D'Addario scored his first goal of the game 48 seconds into second half. With the tally, D'Addario surpassed Shane Kokoruda (Bates Class of 1995) and gave Bates a 7-4 lead in the game against Bowdoin, the ninth-ranked team in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III poll. The Bobcats eventually dropped a 12-11 decision in overtime.

D'Addario scored once more, bringing his career total to 160 goals in 44 career games. Because he missed all but three games of his junior season because of an injury, D'Addario surpassed Kokoruda in 16 fewer games. For the 2000 season, D'Addario has 42 points on 37 goals and five assists for the 7-4 Bobcats. He also holds the top-two single-season goal-scoring marks, registering 59 goals in his rookie campaign and 57 goals as a sophomore. With nine goals against Maine Maritime Academy as a rookie, D'Addario also holds the single-game goal-scoring record.

"Mike has been a phenomenal player for this program," said head coach Al Brown. "Even when he missed most of his junior season, he kept working hard to get back for this year. This is a great achievement. We will definitely miss him when he is gone."

D'Addario is a 1996 graduate of Friends Academy. He is the son of John and Joan D'Addario, Locust Valley, N.Y..
