Bates vs. Tufts and MIT at Franklin Park

Junior Mike Danahy (So. Windsor, Conn.) won his second straight meet as three of the top six teams in New England got together for a triangular meet. No. 5 MIT came out on top (35 pts.) with No. 3 Tufts in second (42 pts.) and No. 6 Bates in third (48 pts.).

The Bates' two through five runners were grouped within one minute of each other, though not as closely as last week's 35-second grouping. Junior Matt Twiest (Albuquerque, N.M.) placed seventh overall, in a time of 26:22. First-year runner Andrew Gruel placed eighth, 16 second behind Twiest. Junior Brendan Hahesy (Melrose, Mass.) and senior tri-captian John Cullinan (Yonkers, N.Y.) rounded out the Bates scorers, finishing 14th and 18th, respectively.
