BATES MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS MASS. COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS IN OVERTIME

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Bates College Bobcats (6-3) extended their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 overtime victory over Massaschusetts College of Liberal Arts Mohawks.

After an uneventful first 40 minutes of the game, the Bobcats started the scoring on a goal from Alex Cutler (Worcester, Mass.), his first of the season. Mass. College tied the game with just nine seconds remaining in the first half. The second half was tightly played, with neither team scoring. The Bobcats, ranked No. 9 in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Assocation of America poll, tallied the game winner eight minutes into the first overtime when senior Chad LaFauci (No. Andover, Mass.) scored his third goal of the season with senior Eric Trickett (Windham, N.H.) picking up his team-leading seventh assist of the season.

With tough Bates defense, goalkeepers Brian Anton (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) only needed to make three saves for the win. Spector came in with about 10 minutes left in regulation when Anton was injured making a save.
