BOBCATS SETTLE FOR 1-1 TIE WITH WESLEYAN

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Both teams scored in the first 20 minutes but could not in the final 100 as the visiting Bates College Bobcats (4-4-1, 1-3-1 NESCAC) and host Wesleyan University Cardinals (6-3-1, 2-3-1 NESCAC) battled to a 1-1 tie in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action.

Wesleyan broke the ice at the 12:04 mark on a goal by sophomore midfielder Nick Katzenbach. Bates responded just under seven minutes later on the second goal of the season by junior Josh Myer(Los Angeles, Cal.), who scored for the second straight game. Both goals were unassisted. Bates senior goalkeeper Dan Spector(Framingham, Mass.) made four saves on the afternoon, including an athletic stop on a corner kick late in the second overtime when he punched a ball that was curling into the net over the crossbar.
