BATES UPSETS TUFTS, 2-1, IN NESCAC MEN'S SOCCER
Weymouth nets goal, assist

LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior forward Drew Weymouth (Holden, Mass.) assisted one goal and scored the game-winner as the Bates College Bobcats (2-3, 1-2 NESCAC) defeated the visiting Tufts University Jumbos (4-2, 2-2 NESCAC) in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action today.

Bates junior forward Brian Luoma (Virginia Beach, Va.) opened the scoring in the ninth minute when he headed home a cross from Weymouth. The first half ended with Bates up, 1-0. Tufts evened the score 12 minutes into the second half when junior Garrett Dale (Upper Montclair, N.J.) calmly sent a penalty kick past Bates keeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.). Weymouth then scored the winner with less the 15 minutes left in regulation when he sent a shot past Jumbo keeper Scott Conroy (Madison, Conn.) and into the lower left corner of the net.

The win snapped Bates' four-game winless streak against Tufts, dating back to the 1998 season. Spector picked up the win with seven saves, while Conroy had six stops in the losing effort.
