LEWISTON, Maine -- Plymouth State College rookie Derek Masse (Dracut, Mass.) scored with just over five minutes remaining in regulation as the visiting Panthers (3-3) downed the host Bates College Bobcats (1-3), 1-0, on Russell St. Field.

Masse's first career goal came on an assist from junior Justin Wengel (Newington, Conn.). The Bobcats controlled the ball for much of the second half, but could not muster much offense, registering just one shot. Senior goalie Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) made four saves in the losing effort, while PSC's Scott Laine (Spencer, Mass.) had two stops for the shutout.
