Bobcats, Panthers battle to 1-1 draw

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- For the second straight game, the Bates College men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw on the road as the Bobcats deadlocked with the host Middlebury College Panthers.

Bates (4-4-2, 1-3-2 NESCAC) got on the board early against the second-place team in the NESCAC. Senior back Eric Folkemer (Columbia, Md.) buried a loose off a free kick exactly five minutes into the contest for his first career goal.The Bobcat lead held up until the 73rd minute, when the Panthers' Kellen Florio beat Bates keeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) to his right side. Neither team mounted much of an offensive charge in the extra session.

Spector finished with 10 saves, a season high, for the Bobcats, while Hamm had two stops for Middlebury (5-4-2, 4-1-2 NESCAC).
