COLLEGE, 4-1 LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College men's soccer team (6-4-2, 2-3-2 NESCAC) scored three second-half goals to defeat the visiting Connecticut College Camels (4-9, 0-8 NESCAC), 4-1, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action today. Conn. College got the scoring started early on an unassisted goal by Darrell Comrie (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the fifth minute of the game, beating Bates keeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) to the lower left corner. The Bobcats tallied the equalizer 20 minutes later on the second goal of the season by junior Nick MacInnis (Andover, Mass.), who took a nice cross pass from classmate Brian Luoma (Virginia Beach, Va.). Junior back Jeff Critchlow (Carlisle, Mass.) scored what proved to be the game winner just 1:48 into the second half on a free kick, scoring his first goal of the season. Rookie reserve Eben Sypitkowski (Bangor, Maine) put one past Camel goalie Sean Labrie (Yarmouth, Maine) 21 minutes later and Luoma put the icing on the conference win with a goal in the final minute of play. Spector made three saves for the Bates win, while Labrie had four stops in the losing effort.
