BATES, COLBY BATTLE TO SCORELESS DRAW
Bobcats qualify for NESCAC Tournament

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Bates and Colby men's soccer teams were unable to decide a winner today as both teams pitched a shutout in a 0-0 tie. Today's tie, coupled with a 1-0 loss by Trinity to Amherst, gives the Bobcats a berth in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tournament on Sunday, Oct. 28. The Bobcats, seeded seventh, face No. 2 Middlebury at 1 p.m. The Panthers and Bobcats battled to a 1-1 tie earlier this season.

Despite several good chances by both teams, senior goalkeepers Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) of Bates and David Friedman (Avon, Conn.) of Colby kept the scoreboard unmarked. Spector had one save, while Friedman was more active with nine stops. The shutout is the third of the season for Spector and his second career overtime shutout. He now has 17 and a half shutouts for his career, making him the school's all-time leader.
