LATE GOAL LIFTS CONNECTICUT COLLEGE PAST BATES, 2-1

(Taken from a Connecticut College press release)

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Sophomore midfielder P.J. Dee (New Canaan, CT) broke a 1-1 tie in the 82nd minute and the Connecticut College (7-6, 3-5 NESCAC) defense held off Bates (6-6, 2-5 NESCAC) the rest of the way in a 2-1 victory for the Camels this afternoon at Connecticut College.

The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead early in the first half when senior midfielder Bryan Stevens (Southwick, Mass.) put home a pass from senior back Walter Shicko (Rocky Hill, Conn.). The goal was Stevens' team-leading seventh this season and his fourth in the last five games.

Connecticut College got the equalizer at 59:38 when sophomore back Sean Hamill (Easton, Conn.) put the ball past Bates junior goalie Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.). Dee then tallied the game-winning goal with just eight minutes left in regulation on an assist by rookie back James Palten (West Hartford, Conn.) who also had an assist on the game-tying goal by Hamill.

Spector made three saves for Bates while junior goalie Zach Roth (West Orange, N.J.) made five saves for the Camels.
