Amherst 14, Bates 7

The Bates College Bobcats (4-3) lost their second game in as many days, falling to Amherst College (6-3) by a score of 14-7. Senior attack Jay Lively (No. Falmouth, Mass.) got the Bobcats on the board first just 1:57 into the game. The Lord Jeffs answered with the next four goals of the period and the first two of the second. The Bobcats climbed back in to within four at halftime, scoring three of the last five goals of the second period. Leading 8-4 at intermission, Amherst outscored Bates 6-0 in the third period. Bates held the Lord Jeffs scoreless in the fourth period, while scoring three goals of their own, but it was not enough. Sophomore goalies Dirk Huntington (Falls Church, Va.) and Jason Beyer (Peekskill, N.Y.) combined to make seven saves.
