CONNECTICUT COLLEGE UPENDS BATES, 10-6

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Despite outshooting the host Connecticut College Camels 33-22, the Bates College men's lacrosse team dropped its third straight road contest, 10-6, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play today.

Conn. College (2-5, 1-4 NESCAC) scored six unanswered goal to start the game. Bates (5-4, 1-3 NESCAC) climbed back by scoring five of the next six goals to get within 7-5 at halftime. After the Camels scored first in the second half, Bates answered with 2:15 left in the third quarter, but the Bobcats went scoreless over the final 17 minutes. Conn. College scored twice in the fourth quarter to take the win and snap their five-game winless streak.

Bates senior Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored four goals to lead all players, but classmate Patrick Gaughan (Duxbury, Mass.) was the only other Bobcat with two points (1G, 1A). Conn. College got hat tricks from juniors Kevin Burke (Beverly, Mass.) and Ryan Childs (Boxborough, Mass.). Senior goalkeeper Tyler Volpe (Andover, Mass.) had 16 saves for the victory, while Bates junior Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) had eight stops in the losing effort.
