BATES MEN'S LAX TOPS WENTWORTH, 17-8, FOR FIRST WIN UP NORTH

BOSTON, Massachusetts -- Sophomore attack Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored seven goals and sophomore attack Dave Frederick (Hartford, Conn.) notched two goals and five assists to lead Bates (4-1) to a 17-8 non-league victory over Wentworth (1-1) at Sweeney Field.

The Bobcats led 4-2 after one period and 7-3 at the end of the first half. Bates used a six-goal third period to break the game open. Sandler's seven goals match the third-best single game performance in Bates history, two behind teammate Mike D'Addario's nine-goal game against Gordon in 1997.

Senior captain David Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.) and first-year keeper Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) combined to make nine saves in the victory.
