Trinity 81, Bates 62
TRINITY SPOILS REILLY'S HOMECOMING, 81-62 HARTFORD, Conn.- Senior center Jason Levin scored 19 points and senior co-captain forward John Mulfinger added 16 in the last regular season home game of their collegiate careers as the Trinity College Bantams defeated the visiting Bates College Bobcats by a score of 81-62 this afternoon in NESCAC men's basketball action. Trinity wins their third straight game to improve their record to 19-2 and Head Coach Stan Ogrodnik is just two wins shy of 300 with a 298-125 career mark at Trinity. Bates, whose second-year Head Coach Joe Reilly played for Ogrodnik at Trinity, falls to 10-12. Bates freshman forward Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) led all scorers with 28 points, 20 in the first half, and shot 11 of 19 from the floor. Wilson kept the Bobcats close in the first half, but poor outside shooting killed them. Bates shot a combined two of 17 from three-point range and just 35% from the field for the game. Sophomore center Rommel Padonou added 11 points for the Bobcats. Trinity still took a 41-30 lead into the locker room at the half after a half court shot at the buzzer by sophomore guard Scott Wallach was nullified by the referees, The Bantams built the lead up to as high as 17 early in the second half, but Bates rallied back to cut the lead to 10 with eight minutes to play. Levin was fouled and Bates freshman forward Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.), who was not involved in the play was hit for two technical fouls and an ejection. Trinity made just three of six foul shots, but controlled the game for its remainder for the 81-62 win.
