CONN. COLLEGE HANDLES BATES MEN, 98-63

(Taken from a Connecticut College press release) NEW LONDON, CT. -- Senior guard Dwayne Stallings (New London, CT) scored 24 points for the second consecutive game to lead Connecticut College to a 98-63 win over Bates this afternoon at the Charles B. Luce Field House.

Stallings also had 24 points in an 81-51 win over Tufts last evening. His performance helped the Camels extended their school record winning streak to 17 and ran their record to 17-0. Stallings was 8-of-13 from the field and 5-of-9 from three point range.

The Camels used the three-point field goal to its advantage connecting on 11-of-19 attempts. The Bobcats struggled shooting, hitting just 23 percent from the floor in the first half, and two for 13 from the line in the second.

Connecticut College is ranked first in the NCAA New England Division III poll and third in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III poll.

The Camels are 22-1 at home in their last 23 games and have won 42 of their last 47 at the Charles B. Luce Field House since the start of the 1995-96 season.

Bates fell for the second time in as many nights and dropped to 9-9. The Bobcats were led by freshman forward Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) who had 16 points. Sophomore forward Rommel Padonou (Libreville, Gabon) added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats.
