BATES MEN ROLL OVER UNIV. OF NEW ENGLAND, 110-63

LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College men's basketball team recorded their largest scoring output since 1998 tonight as the Bobcats (3-1) easily handled the University of New England Nor'Easters (0-4), 110-63, in Alumni Gym tonight.

The Bobcats hit 16 3-pointers, three shy of the school record, including six of their first nine to jump out to a 22-13 lead five minutes in. The Bobcats went on to hit nine-of-20 in the first half to take a 52-35 lead at the break. Sophomore guard Ramon Garcia (Haverhill, Mass.) had three trifectas for nine points in the half, while C.J. Neely (No. Easton, Mass.) added 10 points on five-of-eight form the floor. UNE's Ricky Sirois (Saco, Maine) led all scorers with 15 points at the break.

Bates opened the second half on a 16-2 run over the first five minutes that broke the game open. Senior Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) keyed the run with seven points, including a 3-pointer that gave the Bobcats a 68-37 lead with 15:47 left in the game. The Bobcats went on to record their biggest offensive output in three years since a 125-point performance over Maine Maritime Dec. 12, 1998.

Garcia led the Bobcats with 19 points and four assists in the contest, while Neely had 17 points and seven rebounds. Wilson had 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while senior Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) rounded out the double-figure scorers for Bates with 11 points.

Sirois led UNE with a game-high 25 points, while sophomore Brandon Berthiaume (Springfield, Mass.) recorded the game's only double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
