BOBCATS DROP SECOND OT GAME IN NESCAC
Trinity buzzer-beater forces OT; Bantams take 105-96 win

HARTFORD, Conn. — First-year forward Darren Baker (Lakehurst, N.J.) scored a career-high 18 points, including the game-tying three-pointer to force overtime from half court as time expired, leading the Trinity College Bantams to a 105-96 win over the visiting Bates College Bobcats in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball action this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium.

Trinity (12-3, 3-1 NESCAC) overcame an 11-point deficit late in the second half, and Baker hit a last second heave from just inside the half court line to as time expired to force the overtime. Baker received the inbounds pass just in front of the half court line and dribbled around two Bates defenders to free himself for a clear look at the basket. The Bantams opened the overtime with a three-point basket by senior tri-captain guard Matt Jones (Meriden, Conn.) and never looked back.

Bates (12-6, 0-3 NESCAC) held the lead for the majority of the game, building a 49-39 advantage at the half. The Bobcats outrebounded Trinity, 25-15, and received 17 points from senior tri-captain forward Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) in the first half.

Wilson led all scorers with 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while senior tri-captain forward Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) had 17 points and six rebounds, sophomore guard Ramon Garcia (Haverhill, Mass.) totaled 12 points, six assists, and three steals, and junior guard Angelo Salvaggio (Portland, Maine) scored 15 points with six rebounds off the Bates bench.

Trinity senior tri-captain Colin Tabb (Somers, Conn.), who was honored prior to the game for scoring his 1,000th career point as a Bantam last week, had a team-high 26 points. Baker grabbed 10 boards and made all six of his free throws in addition to his 18 points off the bench, and fellow rookie John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) notched 21 points off the pine.
