BOBCATS DROP 90-83 DECISION AT COLBY-SAWYER

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Cold shooting from long distance doomed the Bates College men's basketball team tonight, as the Bobcats (3-2) dropped a 90-83 decision at Colby-Sawyer College (2-1).

Two nights after hitting 16-of-35 from downtown in a romp over the University of New England, the Bobcats sank just five-of-28 against the Chargers, including 0-for-9 in the first half. Trailing 41-29 at the break, Bates fell behind by as many as 15 points before mounting a charge that pulled them to within four points, 73-69, with 2:24 left on the clock. CSC was strong from the free-throw line, however, hitting 28-of-35 in the second half to earn the seven-point victory.

Bates was led by a pair of double-doubles on the evening. Senior Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) matched the game-high with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while classmate Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) contributed 14 points and a game-high 13 boards. Junior C.J. Neely(No. Easton, Mass.) added 13 points.

Colby-Sawyer put all five starters in double figures, led senior Calen Paquette (Hookset, N.H.), who had 18 points, including his 1,000th of his career, and eight assists. Senior Grant Kelly (Bedford, N.H.) matched Walker with 21 points.
