BRUNSWICK, Maine (taken from a BowdoinCollege press release)— The Suffolk University men's basketball team (3-4) used an 11-0 run midway through the first half and held off a late charge by the Bates College Bobcats (4-3) to take a 91-81 win in the third game of the Bates/Bowdoin Classic today.

Bates had a 25-24 lead midway through the first period when Suffolk went on an 11-0 run to take a 36-25 lead. The Rams upped the margin to as many as 18 before the Bobcats cut the gap to 48-33 on a Billy Hart (Haverhill, Mass.) 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The two squads traded punches in the second half as the lead bounced between eight and 12 points. Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) cut the lead to seven with a jumper at the 6:30 mark, but Suffolk held off the Bobcats' final push by hitting their free throws down the stretch to earn the 10-point win.

The domination continued for the remainder of the first half, as Bowdoin took a 44-19 lead into the half. A huge run to open the second half expanded the lead to over 50 points, as the Polar Bears outscored the Terriers 61-18 in the second half.
