BATES SUFFERS CBB LOSS, 71-53, AT BOWDOIN

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Bates College men's basketball dropped into a tie atop the CBB tonight, falling to Bowdoin, 71-53. With the loss, Bates falls to 12-7, 2-1 in CBB play and 0-4 in the NESCAC, while Bowdoin improves to 14-5, 2-1 in CBB and 4-1 in NESCAC.

Tied at 10-10 just five minutes into the game, the Polar Bears used a 7-0 run to take a 17-10 lead just mintues later. Bowdoin extended the lead to 44-31 at the break, thanks in great part to Braden Clement, who scored 14 points in the first half on 4-for-4 three-point shooting. Bowdoin hit for 56% of their shots in the first half on their way to the 13-point edge at the break. The Bobcats hit on only 30% of their efforts in the second frame, as the Polar Bears extended their lead to as many as 20 points before taking the victory, 71-53.

Bates had four players in double figures, led by Alex Wilson's (Duxbury, Mass,) 13 points and seven boards. Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) with 12, C.J. Neely (No. Easton, Mass.) with 11 and Angelo Salvaggio (Portland, Maine) with 10 also reached double digits. Bowdoin was led by Braden Clement's 14, while Jon Farmer added 12 points and nine boards. Greg Orlicz (13) and Mark Gilbride (10) also notched double figures.
