BOBCATS GET LEG UP ON CBB CROWN, 75-69, OVER COLBY

WATERVILLE, Maine Ð The Bates College men's basketball team took a huge step towards its first CBB crown under head coach Joe Reilly today with a 75-69 win at Colby. The victory extends Bates' winning streak to seven games, matching the 1952-53 team for the longest in school history.

The Bobcats (9-3) opened a 37-29 lead at halftime. Colby got to within two points with about 10 minutes remaining, but 3-point threats Ramon Garcia (Haverhill, Mass.) and Billy Hart (Haverhill, Mass.) each hit from long range to give Bates an insurmountable 10-point lead.

Junior forward Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) led four Bobcats in double figures with 17 points, while classmate Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded his second-straight double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Hart and Garcia each chipped in 13 points. The win was the Bobcats first over Colby since the 1996-97 season and their first in Waterville since 1995-96, the last time Bates won both road CBB contests.

Colby (9-4) was paced by Damien Strahorn's game-high 23 points and team-best 10 rebounds. The White Mules also got 20 from senior Zeb Davis.
