Middlebury 80, Bates 65 MIDDLEBURY THREES BURY BOBCATS, 80-65 MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- The Middlebury College men's basketball team jumped out to an 18-8 lead after six minutes of play and never looked back, downing the Bates College Bobcats, 80-65, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) contest. Though the Bobcats (7-14, 2-4) had one of their top rebounding performances of the season, holding a 45-32 advantage on the boards, Middlebury (10-11, 2-6) was deadly from long range, hitting 52 percent from behind the arc (13-25). The Panthers were led by Andrew Shogan with 29 points and Craig Breen with 20. Bates' Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) had 23 points and nine rebounds, while Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) added 17. First-yeaar forward C.J. Neely (No. Easton, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 boards in the losing effort.
