HART'S 20 NOT ENOUGH AS BATES FALLS TO MCLA, 55-52

PAXTON, Mass. -- The Bates College men's basketball team dropped a close 55-52 decision to Mass. College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) today in the first round of the Anna Maria Invitational.

The Bobcats got a fine performance from sophomore guard Billy Hart (Haverhill, Mass.), who scored 20 points on seven-of-15 shooting, including five-of-10 from three-point range. Unfortunately, Hart was the onlt Bobcat to score in double figures, as the Bobcats shot 36 percent from the floor. The Bobcats forced 20 turnovers and committed just 12 of theirown, but MCLA had a decisive advantage on the boards, outrebounding Batres 49-30, including 20-7 on the offensive glass. Leon Denton led the Mohawks with 20 points, while Bobby Fortes had 10.
