LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College junior Ryan Jarvis' (Boxford, Mass.) 37-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the only touchdown of the second half as the Bobcats won at home for the first time since 1995, 13-7 over Colby.

Colby scored on their first possession of the game on an eight-yard run by senior running back Don Gage (Clearwater, Fla.). Bates scored in the second quarter on a 25-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Rejean Guerriero (Spofford, N.H.), his third of the season.

Bates needed just three plays on the first drive of the second half to take their latest lead of the season, as Jarvis had a 15-yard run to go with the 37-yard score. It was his team-leading fourth TD of the season. Guerriero nailed the extra point from 35 yards following a Bates penalty after the touchdown.

Colby got into Bates territory on the next four possessions, including a seven play drive which reached the Bobcats' 26-yard line, but junior defensive back Jason Silva (Methuen, Mass.) made his first career interception to halt the White Mule drive. Guerriero added his second field goal of the game, from 28 yards out with 9:13 remaining to add some insurance.

Jarvis had his third 100-yard rushing performance of the season, with 137 yards on 24 carries. Junior wide receiver Jason Coulie (Manchester, N.H.) had eight catches for 63 yards, while junior quarterback Matt Bazirgan (Newbury, Mass.) was 15-for-25 passing for 169 yards.

Bates (1-5) last home win came 10 games ago on Nov. 4, 1995, when the Bobcats defeated Bowdoin, 33-29. This was the first time Bates has held an opponent below double figures in scoring since 1990, when they held Colby to nine points in a 9-3 loss and Amherst to six points in a 13-6 win.
