In a game originally scheduled for Oct. 10, the Williams College Ephs (5-7) scored the only goal of the game 1:15 before half time and made it stand up, defeating the Bates College Bobcats (5-7), 1-0, in Exeter, N.H.

The Ephs scored after a penalty corner when a clearing attempt by Bates goalkeeper Peggy Ficks (Washington, Conn.) was intercepted and sent back to the goal. The Bobcats were looking for a second straight NESCAC victory, having beaten Connecticut College, 2-0, in Lewiston the day before. Bates was unable to give coach Wynn Hohlt her second win over her alma mater. The first came while she was coaching Plymouth State College in the NCAA tournament.
