In the baseball team's New England opener, the Bobcat defense struggled mightly. Eight Bates (0-4) errors led to nine Bowdoin (6-5) unearned runs as the Polar Bears topped ace Chris Snow (Tewksbury, Mass.), 11-4. After falling behind 9-0, the Bobcats scored four runs in the eighth inning behind a two-run home run from sophomore right fielder Jason Coulie (Manchester, N.H.) and a two-run single from sophomore catcher Frost Hubbard (East Walpole, Mass.)
