Bates Men's Lacrosse (3-2) Splits at MIT

The men's lacrosse team split a pair of games at MIT on March 22 and 23. In the first game, Bates downed the University of New England, 14-5. First-year attackman Mike D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.) continued to his hot scoring, notching six goals, the team's highest scoring day in the young season. First-year attackman Jon Miller (Canton, Mass.) had two goals and two assists. Classmate Dirk Huntington (Falls Church, Va.) was perfect in the first half, stopping all 10 Knight shots. The next day, the Bobcats faced Amherst, ranked 17th in the nation in Division III. Bates stayed close through the first quarter and a half, trailing 3-2 on goals by Miller and junior Jay Lively (North Falmouth, Mass.), who dove in front of the crease to knock a loose ball past along the ground past the Jeffs' goalkeeper. Amherst scored the next four goals to take a 7-2 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bobcats fought valiantly in the last period, getting goals from senior attackman Tim Brady (Manchester, Mass.) with 7:52 left and Lively with 1:45 remaining, but they could not complete the comeback. Huntington had a career-high 14 saves.
