A Pilgrim's Guide to Mount Athos

The Zwerger Map of Mount Athos

© 2008 The Friends of Mount Athos

As noted in the Guide, "A number of tourist maps are available locally [in Greece, and on the Holy Mountain in the shops in Daphni and Karyes] but these are not recommended. The only good map of Athos is Austrian and may be obtained by writing to Reinhold Zwerger, A-1020 Wien, Wohlmutstrasse 8, Austria."

The current edition of the Zwerger Map is that of September, 2001.

Persons planning to hike extensively on the Holy Mountain should also take advantage of the Footpath Descriptions and the report, "Mount Athos Footpaths and their Condition" updated regularly by the Friends of Mount Athos Footpaths Project.
